Security Scotland will be attending the Glasgow Violence Reduction Workshop on Thursday 19th October 2017. We’re continually looking to evolve as an organisation and develop. With the latest knowledge on subjects such as violence reduction methods, we can continue to do our job in protecting the public. We are always looking to pass on first-hand updates on this subject from Police Scotland and the security industry regulator – the SIA, to our frontline licensed personnel.
In the UK, the amount of qualified event security staff is facing a drastic shortfall due to the decline in the number of Security Industry Authority licenses being reissued.
At every event, there’s dedicated security professionals that protect individuals and property from disruption and other threats. All events need a security presence in place so the event runs safely and to plan. Follow these tips and you’ll be on the road to success:
Security Scotland have moved quickly to add Motherwell FC to our football stadium portfolio. Motherwell are a football club with long standing traditions and have been in Scottish Football’s top flight since 1985 and we are delighted to add them as another SPFL footballing client.
Edinburgh City FC are the latest addition to our football client list. The Edinburgh club who play their home games at the world renowned Meadowbank Stadium are newest members to the SPFL and we are delighted to add them as we focus on growing our East of Scotland events presence.
Security Scotland has moved to fabulous new premises in the east end of Glasgow taking over the entire 1st floor of David Dale House in Broad Street.
The new HQ includes 3 large distinct operational offices, a training room, meeting room, board room and kitchen/ staff break area along with a huge storage facility on the ground floor for all our uniform & equipment.
The facilities allow us to provide more training in our bespoke training room and to hold interviews & briefings in our much larger “fit for purpose” meeting room.
Security Scotland has yet another prestigious membership under its belt. We are now members of the UK Crowd Management Association.
The organisation’s members assist with establishing operational standards for security companies working on leisure events. They have advised the UK government on publishing standards for events. This helps us have a real voice in shaping event security in the future.
We have also renewed our membership of the British Safety Council in order to underline our commitment to the prevention of work-related injuries . Training in this area will be continued in order to ensure that everyone in the workplace knows how to work safely and without risk to their health.
The 3rd week in January seen our 1st Supervisor & Key Personnel Training Course at our Glasgow Head Office.
22 of our current Supervisor & Key Personnel team attended the afternoon session which outlined our updated Supervisor processes, policies & procedures as well as reiterating our company operational expectations for the year ahead.
Attendance Certificates were presented to all participants.
Security Scotland are proud to be awarded the contract to provide security & safety stewarding services to Historic Scotland’s Summer Events programme. Each year, Historic Scotland stages more than 400 legendary events and days out that bring Scotland’s history to life which include knights jousting, enactments etc as well as an insight discovering how people lived in the past.
Although having vast experience working in football stadiums up & down the country Security Scotland have secured Hamilton Accies FC as our first stand-alone football client. Our first fixture was at the end of January and the club’s Safety Officer – Colin Murphy, was keen to freshen up the matchday stewarding operation at the Superseal Stadium in a bid to strive for consistent, well briefed & well trained stewarding personnel to look after the Accies support on matchdays.
Colin had seen our staff at Celtic Park and was so impressed he invited us to tender for the contract. Security Scotland managing director, James Glackin commented “this is a fantastic contract to secure and it’s pleasing that it has come on the back of our staff’s operational professionalism that was observed first hand”.
