AIG Woman’s Open
Last month our Events Team were proud to provide the security and customer safety stewards to the AIG Women’s Open which was held at the prestigious Walton Heath Golf Course near Walton on the Hill in Surrey.
The AIG Women’s Open is the fifth and final major of the 2023 LPGA Tour season contested by 144 of the best women golfers in the world.
Our team enjoyed an array of weather conditions while carrying out their duties with a friendly and engaging smile, keeping all attendees safe and secure as they enjoyed a thrilling end to the tournament which saw the USA’s Lilia Vu run away from the field earning a six-shot win after an impressive final round.
Our team of 100 staff covered all the key event positions around the course that included the site build security, event entry system, the clubhouse, the players facility, hospitality areas, player crossing points, perimeter patrols, and the presentation ceremony.
For the very first time at the AIG Women’s Open, live music featured as part of a new, enhanced experience that has been attracting new and diverse audiences to the Championship and we provided a separate crowd management operation that ran side by side the tournament security which facilitated the natural crossover from golf to the evening’s entertainment. Fans were treated to a brand, new way of enjoying women’s golf at the very highest level, with BRIT Award winner Ellie Goulding headlining on Saturday night – marking the beginning of a new musical era at the iconic tournament. English singer-songwriter Pixey supported, making her & Ellie the first ever musicians to perform at the open.
Our Managing Director, James Glackin commented “We’ve been providing our services to this event since 2020. Since then, this is the first time the event has ventured out of Scotland and Surrey was a stunning, temporary home for our staff for the 8 days of the competition. The Saturday night concert was just another moving part to the competition week, which was great and well attended. As always, it was great working with the familiar faces at the R&A and its staging partner IMG”.
