Staff Welfare at Celtic Park

This is some of our team at Celtic FC last week receiving their usual rolls, tea, coffee & soup ahead of being briefed and deployed into position. This is just one of the added benefits of working as a SIA Security or Safety Steward for Security Scotland on matchdays at some of our designated stadiums. Staff Welfare is a real motivator for staff especially at this time of year when we are asking our staff to be positioned outside often braving the challenging Scottish Weather conditions. SIA Update: Application Timeframes

Please see below for a quote from the SIA regarding application timescales: "We process around 10,000 applications every month. The time taken to process your application will be affected by many different factors: your address history, your nationality (insofar as it affects your right to work in the UK), your criminal record if you have one, whether you’ve spent time outside the UK, and so on. Most importantly, you can affect the speed of your application. We need the information you give us and if this is incorrect or incomplete then your application could be delayed, and it may even be cancelled. Please take the time to review the information you give us before you submit your application because once you’ve submitted it you won’t be able to change it.  As soon as you submit your application, we will send you a message telling you exactly what else you will need to do. Feedback From Our Clients and Customers

Our client received this great feedback and passed it over to our team: "I attended a Christmas night out in your hotel last Thursday, 15th December 2022, for my firm. At the event one of my younger colleagues was very under the weather at the party night. I wanted to praise your security guards. They assisted my colleague throughout the evening. They arranged to get her water, a chair to sit in in the atrium, and phoned her a taxi. They stayed close until the taxi arrived and she was able to get into the taxi with her friend. They kept me notified of everything and reassured me throughout when I was attending to my colleague.  They went above and beyond their role and we are very grateful for their help. You often hear very negative stories about security guards in the press but your security guards were an example of excellence. Others

Today marks Winter Solstice 2022.

Amongst the many festivals that centre around the solstices and equinoxes, the Scandinavian festival of Jul has some rituals that are probably more familiar than you think. Perhaps more familiar to us as Yule, the 12-day festival centred around the solstice has given birth to many of our most familiar Christmas traditions including the Christmas tree, the Yule log and the Christmas wreath. Met Office. If you celebrate today, we hope you have a wonderful day!

Brixton Academy Incident SIA Statement

We are saddened to hear about the tragic loss of lives following the crush at the Brixton Academy event held last week. Gaby Hutchinson was an SIA licence holder, and our sincere condolences go out to Gaby’s family and friends for their terrible loss. This awful incident is a reminder of the challenges security staff face when carrying out their duties to keep venues and members of the public safe. Our thoughts are also with all those who knew Rebecca Ikumelo, the young mother who died on Saturday, and with the family and friends of the 21-year-old woman who remains in a critical condition in hospital at this difficult time.
