NPCC release advice for spiking

The National Police Chiefs Council, who are backed by the SIA, are urging potential victims of spiking to report to police and get tested quickly, as nearly 5,000 reports of spiking are made within a year. If you think you have been spiked call 999 or 101 to report it to the police. We need to know about every possible spiking so we can investigate, even if no other crime has taken place. If you are out in a bar or club, you can report to a member of staff or security, who will be able to help and support you. If you are injured or have symptoms you are worried about after being spiked, call NHS 111. Security Scotland raise money for Lymphoma Action with Braehead Arena

The Security Scotland team at Braehead Arena raised £120 on Sunday, February 19th, when the Glasgow Clan, backed by Alix Maitland, dedicated their home game against Manchester Storm to raise money for Lymphoma Action. Clan fans will recognise Alix as one of the flag bearers who skates around the ice rink in the run-up to an Elite League ice hockey game starting. The former figure skater is also a part-time steward at the Braehead Ice Centre during public skating sessions. When Security Scotland’s Managing Director James Glackin found out about the team’s efforts he generously doubled the amount making a total donation of £240 to Lymphoma Action for Alix Maitland.  James said “When I heard that the team were all pulling together to support this fantastic charity, it’s the least we could do. Alix is always on hand to help others out, which is evident in the role she has with the Clan.

Grow your own vegetables

Why not devote a patch of your garden to growing your own food? It’s cheaper than buying them in store, reduces your environmental impact and tastes that little bit better knowing you’ve grown it yourself. In February, you can start sowing broad beans, peas, carrots, onions, potatoes and salad. Fruit and Vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumber and eggplant that need the warmth of a greenhouse can also be planted in February. Have you tried growing your own fruit and vegetables?

Safer Internet Day

Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. Security Scotland is a user of The Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC) that brings together the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and the Scottish business community to one day make Scotland one of the safest, and most resilient places to live, work, and do business, both on and offline. They state: “It is our intention that every Scottish organisation have the skills and knowledge to protect themselves against online attacks. We achieve this through delivering education and preventative training, as well as actively raising awareness of threats throughout the business community.” #SaferInternetDay2023 #SecurityScotland #SBRC
