Kiltwalk 2022

On Sunday, our Events Safety Team were out in Glasgow, enjoying the sunshine along with the 10,000 walkers who were taking part in the annual Kiltwalk, walking from Glasgow Green to Balloch next to Loch Lomond shores. Our trademark friendly, helpful & courteous safety stewards were positioned along the walking route providing general directional assistance, public information, and manning road closures & crossing points. Boosted by Sir Tom Hunter to a mighty £3 million. #kiltwalk2022 #securityscotland #glasgow #securityscotlandltd

Positional asphyxia Awareness

When a persons body position stops them from breathing, this is known as positional asphyxia or postural asphyxia and it can be deadly! Knowing how to avoid physical asphyxia when using physical intervention at work is crucial for anyone in Security to ensure you are keeping yourself and others safe. See the SIA's guide to safer restraint below to see how this can be avoided. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/advice-for-security-operatives

Hostile Awareness Course

Last month our training division delivered a pilot Hostile Awareness Training Session as a starting point for all our frontline staff ahead of the impending Protect Duty legislation that may also affect security & safety staff and associated upskilling.  Protect Duty is a new piece of legislation under consultation that will require many businesses to formally assess terrorism risk for the first time. The Home Office estimates that 650,000 UK businesses could be affected by Protect Duty. The 4 hour training session was delivered by a recently retired supervisory Police Officer whose role encompassed the facilitation, set up, structure and delivery of the Behaviour Detection and Disruptive Effects programme. These open-source tactics predominantly focus on counter terrorism however they are effective in the deterrence and detection of hostile persons involved in criminality, protest, and theft.
